Humanity is at a massive physical disadvantage when compared to every other animal species of similar mass. Even when narrowed down to just the other hominids, the other great apes, humanity still ranks close to the bottom in terms of physical ability. An athlete with the very best genetic gifts, the best training regimen, and most effect performance enhancing drugs may be able to match a chimp, but they do not have a prayer of matching what a gorilla is naturally able to do. But nature did throw humankind a bone, and that would be its brain. In comparison to the other animals, humans have over developed brains. Now, only a meathead with the thickest of skulls would argue that that tradeoff did not end in favor of mankind. But not everyone is going to have brains that develop the same way. Some of them might just be relatively underdeveloped, or at least seen that way by society. Which is why Seguin RCA is a thing.
The Seguin retarded childrens association is an organization. It exists for one specific purpose. That would be to help.
Before everyone got to go to school, the kids who were unable to pass an IQ test were told to go somewhere else. Unfortunately, every place had standards which the developmentally challenged could not hope to reach. But luckily for those children, they had parents.
Because their parents loved their children as they were biologically programmed to do, they decided to do something about their offspring not being allowed to go to normal school. So they put their money together and then used those funds to get space, equipment, and most importantly, teachers. All of which were supposed to help their kids learn.
Its mission is simple. That mission is to help. Because society is going to treat those who are a little mentally slower as a nuisance to be patronized at best and freaks to be scorned at worst. Now, the treatment will generally fall somewhere in the middle. But that treatment is still not entirely ideal, because they are still being treated as abnormal.
One of the ways that they achieve this goal is via learning programs. These are lessons designed to help kids with special needs learn the basic stuff that most other students will learn in a regular school. These programs can also include creative activities like arts and crafts.
The most complete learning program is going to be the summer camp. Now, most summer camps for most kids last a few weeks. Kids with special needs will not be able to attend regular camps, because of those needs. Which is why a special summer camp has to be created for them.
One more thing that they give is a scholarship. Now, a scholarship is money that is earmarked for higher education. Most scholarships however are being fought over by overachievers, those whose grades are extremely high and have all sorts of other credentials. Which is why it is good to give special kids their own scholarship, to give them a shot at winning one.
The thing about life is that it was not meant to be easy. But humanity made it so. But there are still some bumps in the road for a few people. Now, there are organizations out there that are doing their best to smooth out as many of those bumps as they possibly can.
